"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Jesus is honest about the reality of trouble, but offers peace and victory that are secure in Him.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." This promise guarantees that no matter how painful or chaotic a trial is, God can redeem it and turn it into a source of growth.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." When we feel most broken and isolated, God is closest to us, offering His comfort and presence.
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen..." This perspective shifts our focus from temporary pain to the eternal reward.
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." We do not have to fight trials alone. God is our safe space and our source of power in times of trouble.
By reminding us of God's sovereign control, His personal love, and the promise of eternity, scripture shifts our perspective from our problems to His promises.
